6 Things Mentally Strong People Do
A little less than a week ago I found a picture that says ‘6 Things That Mentally Strong People Do’. I couldn’t agree more to the words it said, so much that I wanted to elaborate and share why we should all at least be mentally strong enough to carry on through every bullshit and crap that life may send our way.
1. They MOVE ON. They don’t waste time feeling sorry for themselves. This is what I tell my friends who’s going through a tough time. Most often it happens when a relationship ends. People, women in particular, feel as if they’ve lost a battle once they broke up with their partners. Like what I said in my very first post, when a relationship ends, the heart isn’t the one that’s broken. It’s mostly the trust and faith on the other person. Mentally strong people do not wallow on despair and feel sorry for themselves. Instead, they stand, chin up and let the other person see that they’ve lost the diamond by being too busy picking up useless pile of rocks.
2. They embrace CHANGE. They welcome CHALLENGES. Like what everyone else says, the only constant thing in the world is change. If it isn’t for change, if the inventors haven’t accepted change, we wouldn’t be in this era of technology where we are right now. No matter what happens in our life, we must be ready for it. Whatever changes that may happen, we should embrace it and proudly say, “Challenge Accepted!”
3. They stay HAPPY. Why would I f*cking wallow in despair and deprive myself the right to be happy just because something didn’t go my way? It’s such a waste of time being sad and wondering why things didn’t go as planned but since it has already happened, we can’t do anything but to just let it go and trust that everything happens for a reason. Someone left you? It’s their choice. Your own happiness should never be dependent upon another person’s presence or absence. The only person that can truly make you happy is none other than you.
4. They are KIND, FAIR and not afraid to SPEAK UP. I say what I want, when I want. If someone gets hurt by the words I utter, sorry, I don’t live to please everybody. It’s just that I believe that people who are afraid to speak what they want to say are usually the one that gets abused, bullied or pushed aside. Something bothering you in a relationship? Let your partner know. A suggestion that might help your productivity at work? Tell your boss. Mentally strong individuals also value equality. Racism is a no-no. In this day and age, men and women are both qualified enough to do whatever tasks required to get a job. Although we are tactless, we also know how to be kind, most especially to those who can do nothing for us.
5. They are willing to take calculated risks. Like change, mentally strong people aren’t also afraid of taking risks. They have a “go-to”attitude and doesn’t want to have regrets in life. Instead of saying “I wish” they’d rather say “I did it!”
6. They celebrate other people’s success. They don’t resent it or be envious about it. When someone, be it a colleague or relative achieves something, they are genuinely happy for them. Mentally strong people empower others to be the best version of themselves and not pull them down so they can be superior over them.
This says a lot about being a strong individual but it also takes a lot of guts to have all of these traits at the same time. I say, take it one at a time until you don’t realize that you harness all these traits within you.
