One last chapter before the end of the year! And nothing bad happens in this one!
An Archive of Our Own, a project of the Organization for Transformative Works
Mary learns to heal her sisters, and her new friend shows his true colors.
In spite of Caelid being awful, do the rotlings have any tiny pleasant memories in posp? Like little every day stuff or something they did together one time
Yeah!
Mary, Maureen, and Amy all have memories of the cozy little house they lived in in Sellia, back when it was just Gowry and the three of them and he cared for them like a father. He actually taught the older two to read and was starting to teach Amy when they had to flee.
Mary's fondest memory is actually the day she brought Polly home. O'Neil wouldn't let any of the Servants or Kindred near baby Polly, but Mary was able to carry her to the relative safety of the caves unbothered. Though, she also considers a lot of her time spent with the kindred and servants as happy so Maureen has a lot of happy memories of learning magic from Gowry and the other servants, plus she, Millicent, and Polly often snuck away to watch the Radahn Festival whenever it was attempted. Maureen was captivated by the grand displays of gravity magic, but her younger sisters would always cheer for the strange and varied fighters that swarmed the beach on those nights.
Amy spent a lot of time with the servants tending the garden and learning herbalism ^^ Before she went blind, she also used to mend her sisters' clothes with decorative patterns and patches. They didn't ever look new, but it was nice to wear more than Millicent has fond memories of learning to fight alongside her sisters, though she soon surpassed all of them. Most of her happy memories are just times that they were able to act like actual children instead of future demigoddesses, playing games, drawing in the sand, things like that.
Polly also loved fighting, and even more once Millicent became good enough to start teaching her instead of Gowry. Her relationship with Mary is more like mother and daughter than sisters so she has a lot of cozy memories of being coddled by her growing up.
tysm for the ask bim! Man i miss writing the girls, I hope I get more time to work on the next chapter soon ;-;
Rereading my own fic to remember what I’ve said already about their backstories and this contrast is kinda funny to me.
Millicent’s vision: you’re a killing machine, you’re heartless and cruel and you love it.Here’s you graphically murdering a dude by putrefying his flesh. Isn’t this awesome?
Maureen’s vision: AAAAAA YOURE BEING EATEN ALIVE BY BUGS AAAAAAAAA
Mary’s vision: Don’t worry sweetie, mommy’s here and she loves you 🤗
