Part 14: Tranquility (The End)
Months passed after the cursed mission. His love for her only grew with the passing of time. As for Adelasia she learned to find peace with her life. It was mid spring when they took a trip to the academy where she hid. It was barren now, with only remnants of the life it once had.
She explained things him, how not all had been misfortunes and suffering. That she had once had some happiness, when there were moments in time where witches were not being hunted. Bucky listened intently, as she walked them through halls and staircases until arriving to a greenhouse in the back of the school grounds.
Adelasia made it her goal to have it looking presentable some way some how. For her it had been a place where she had felt most comfortable, most safe. in no time at all, it looked alive again. Then there was no choice, but to buy the old school. Tony had no trouble investing in the idea. She didn’t want to be a school though, she always thought of it as a home.
When the missions ended, they would go back to the old academy and renovate. All the rooms were warm and welcoming, it made her feel content. Bucky hadn’t had a home in such a long time, he was happy having one with her.
The first night in their new home, he felt a sense of completion. His mind wandered, thinking, is this what he would have been missing? Of course not every moment was picturesque. Some nights when they air was cold or the night was starless he or she would wake up to the other’s screams. On those nights the restlessness would be unbearable, but they always made it through.
It took a couple of decades for the two to agree on retiring. When they started seeing more of the team open the path for younger recruits, they figured it was time. Retirement led way to a family, she never thought she’d be a mother, but neither did he. Their first child was a mix of the two and their first encounter at doing something right. Then came their little boy a couple years later. The home never had a quiet moment after.
Of course with age came questions. Both of them knew that when the children grew they would ask why they could levitate and why their daddy had to spend some time alone. They hoped it never came anytime soon, but they were prepared. They were soulmates after all, and they knew that regardless when it ended they would still reunite, somewhere new.
