Have you ever heard the story of the haunted toaster possessed by the devil? This is June O’Brien with her haunted toaster being interviewed by Richard Dominick, a reporter for The Sun.
“Right here where it says ‘put one slice’ we heard ‘I am the devil,’” June said, of the ordinary looking toaster. “What kind of voice did the devil have?” Richard asked. “A very low voice,” she answered.
Richard asked, “Have you saved any of this satanic toast?” Of course, she did, and held up this piece of toast.
Richard asked if the toaster is still possessed. June struggled briefly to get the handle to stay down, apparently a sign that Satan is conveniently present in the toaster today. “Looks like a winner,” she said.
That’s when, in the single most glorious moment of television history, the evil appliance belched hellfire.
After June had a moment to compose herself, Richard asked, “Why have you kept this toaster?” “Well, Richard,” June said, “You know, when all is said and done, it makes good toast.” (This aired on NBC’s “The Today Show,” in 1988.)
