So I'm reading Christopher Marlowe's Doctor Faustus....
and I can't help but notice that there are so many similarities between the characters of Faustus and Shakespeare's Macbeth. Also, there's a great deal of conflict with and quoting Christian scripture. I may want to flesh this out by either going historically with the Bible and how it was interpreted at the time, or with a psychoanalyzing of these two characters together, because there's a lot to jump off of as far as research there.
Also, I watched a clip of the version of Doctor Faustus in which Arthur Darvill plays Mephostophilis and they made the part in which Faustus essentially releases his soul to hell humorous. There's also some interesting performance history/options to explore with this text, including both mood and logistical issues, such as the whole Faustus gets beheaded and then stands back up thing. Hmm....
