So I was in the bookstore and I saw one of those hollowed out old keepsake books, and it BURNED my hand! Hand was red and tender til I ran it under moving water for a full 30 seconds. I see 4 possibilities: Cursed, probably. Nickel allergy to the metalic decoration. Was actually a Bible. Wood allergy at it's worst.
