Bellarke drabble set when Clarke comes back because I just couldn’t help myself. I’m dying waiting for their reunion.
Bellamy’s first instinct had been to pull Clarke into his arms, and she’d gone so easily. He’d known it was her hugging him back so fiercely he could hardly breathe. Nobody could have possibly faked the way that they fit together.
Just wearing Clarke’s body wouldn’t have been enough. There’s something about their souls, he swears. Like the reason they fit is not that their bodies have been made to hold each other but that their souls have been.
So, Bellamy knows it’s her, and part of him doesn’t want to pull away, just wants to hold her, but there’s this other part of him desperate to look at her, so that’s what he does, trembling hands cradling her cheeks as he does.
His watery gaze meets hers and she nods, albeit shakily, as if to say, yeah, it’s really me.
He still remembers so clearly what it felt like to look into the eyes of the woman he loved and only see a stranger looking back at him. Josephine. But this isn’t her. This is Clarke.
Bellamy huffs out a watery breath that sounds an awful lot like a sob as he takes it all in, as Clarke brings her hands to his wrists, clutching the material of his jacket with trembling fingers, and that’s when Bellamy stops thinking, forgetting that it’s not just the two of them right now and leaning forward to press a kiss to her forehead, soft and warm.
Clarke’s eyes flutter shut, and she forgets too. Right now, it is just the two of them.
It’s how it’s always been with them. Maybe it shouldn’t catch her off guard and leave her pursing her lips to keep them from trembling, but she’d nearly lost him. God, she’d died and nearly lost him.
Her co-leader. Her closest confidant. Her best friend. The man she radioed for 2,199 days with no answer. Bellamy.
But now he’s here. Now she can feel his warmth, lips pressed to her forehead, and she can feel his heart beating in time with her own when her hands drop his wrists to rest against his chest.
She sniffles when he pulls back, eyes opening into his, and she doesn’t know what to say, can only look at him, lips parted.
It seems to be all Bellamy can do too.
And before he can do something stupid (like kiss her), his hands drop from her cheeks and he pulls her back in for another hug, hoping she can’t feel how his heart is racing for her.
