Why is it that when I start writing long fics, I fall into this annoying urge to doubt every facet of myself and my writing process? I mean, in fairness to my doubt, it’s a terrible process, but it’s a work in progress and it’s supposed to me growing! I only learned how to use ‘and, but, & or’ like... last year. I’m in university. It was all single or poorly crafted sentences for ages before then and honestly, without the fic writing, I highly doubt I would’ve figured it out any time soon. This is just me screaming into a void and begging myself to stop being so critical of everything I write.
Either way, have some lovely child Harry and dad Snape vibes.
- Over the month of August, Ms Eileen recommended Harry go swimming in the community pool and Harry, exceedingly awkwardly, tried to explain that he felt that wasn’t a grand idea.
- When he was too polite to openly turn her down, she and Snape (who joined them despite refusing to pack a bathing suit or sun screen or any other sort of item for himself, ((he packed extras for Harry)) brought a highly nervous Harry to the community pool.
- Harry barely knew how to dog-paddle and he certainly couldn’t float, nor were there any fun toys to float on. He spent at least twenty minutes being reminded, rather unpleasantly, of the Second Task before Snape saw that he’d hardly left the stairway into the pool.
- Being quite small, Harry wasn’t entirely sure he could keep his head above water on his own.
- Snape, despite all of his distaste for community pools and the other human beings in them, discreetly transfigured his own outfit into a bathing suit and managed to force himself to step into the pool.
- Ms Eileen enjoyed water aerobics with several other ladies while this was all going on and Snape felt she was suitably distracted, but he should’ve known his mother better, as she was instead, highly observant.
- The other ladies were all very complimentary of her son and grandson, and Ms Eileen, in her elusive manner, thanked them very politely.
- After thirty more minutes, Harry managed to be coaxed into the shallow end of the pool and taught how to do some basic swimming.
- Harry particularly enjoyed making waves with a shiny red inner tube. It had appeared quite mysteriously while he’d been learning to float.
- Ms Eileen felt it was a very successful day and afterwards, was gifted with the sight of an exhausted Harry reaching up for Snape to carry him back home, which he did. They even stopped for an ice lolly, though Harry fell asleep eating his.
I feel better. Tiny Harry helps all.
