Task Tuesday → 001
Notes: There are a few mentions of Maisie’s parents passing away, so I wanted to mention that beforehand just in case.
Out of Character Questionnaire;
1. If your character found a magic genie lamp and was granted three wishes, what would they be?
That’s a bit complicated for Maisie, well, some of them would be. If there weren’t any conditions on the wishes, I think she would absolutely wish for her parents to be around again. She misses them terribly all the time, and she’s never fully dealt with losing them. There was some therapy immediately after the event, but she stopped going almost as soon as she could, so it didn’t lend itself to being very helpful. She would wish for some way to disconnect herself from the company, at this point, it’s more of an obligation than anything else and regardless of the fact that she doesn’t actually know what she’d do if she wasn’t working for Dowell Industries, she knows she wants to get away from it. Finally, I think she’d probably ask for something more simple, something to help her look after her brother and their slowly growing group of loved ones. Whatever that happened to be.
2. What foods do they love, and what foods do they refuse to eat?
Maisie’s not a picky eater by any means, and she has a terrible, terrible sweet tooth. She likes cake, pie, shortbread biscuits are a particular favorite, as is steak. She doesn’t really like bananas, or grape flavored things but anything past that and she’ll probably try it at least once.
3. Your character gets the opportunity to go back in time and change one decision they made in their past. Do they do it? If so, what do they change?
I think, if given the chance, Maisie would absolutely go back to change something. I think she would make it clear to her grandparents that she, like Marcus, had no interest in running the company - whether she had the ability to do so or not. It doesn’t make her happy, she feels like she hasn’t really lived much of her life because of the amount of time she dedicates to the business and everything that goes in to keeping it running like a well oiled machine. She feels very ill adjusted for someone her age, and she’d change it if she could.
4. What is your character’s biggest insecurity about their a) personality and b) appearance?
Maisie is absolutely convinced that she’s too cold, personality wise. She’s shy at first glance and sometimes her conversational skills aren’t the best and it has a tendency to drive people away, she’s not a fan of small talk and that in and of itself presents a problem most of the time. Appearance wise, she’s not a huge fan of her chest, she thinks it’s a pain in the ass to deal with on a good day and people seem to take her less seriously depending on how she’s dressed and whether it happens to accentuate her boobs.
5. What do they do when they need comfort? Do they seek out a person, a food, an activity, etc?
Maisie finds Marcus, if he’s close. If not, she either tries to call him or lies down with her favorite blanket - it’s technically a baby blanket but it’s massive and her Nana made it for her and she cherishes it.
6. What are they like when they are drunk?
Animated. Maisie’s a very, very happy person when she’s drunk. Any traces of shyness are pretty much obliterated. She’s talkative, charming, she tries her best to be as friendly as she possibly can and it comes off a lot more effortless when she’s not so worried about making good impressions.
7. How well do they take criticism? How do they react to others noticing their flaws?
Maisie absolutely hates being criticized. It frustrates her terribly, and she beats herself up about it for quite a while after the fact. However, she doesn’t react outwardly or openly to being criticized. Usually, she cracks a joke or makes an immediate acerbic comment and the moment is forgotten. She has a terrible habit of bottling things up, and that’s her knee jerk reaction in this case.
8. Do they have any allergies or chronic conditions?
She’s allergic to certain medications, and she has an astigmatism that’s resulted in her having to wear glasses when she doesn’t feel like using contacts since she was about fourteen. Otherwise, nothing.
9. As a child, what did they want to be when they grew up?
At first, Maisie wanted to be a princess. She was convinced she would be the ruling Queen of Scotland by the time she was a teenager. After it became apparent that that wasn’t going to happen, she wanted to go to college and figure things out on her own but she thought maybe she’d like to be an artist. Now, she has no real idea what she wants to do.
10. Do they have any pet peeves or petty dislikes?
She doesn’t like small talk. She hates being talked down to, she hates being insulted, and she gets especially angry if anyone insults a member of her family - whether it be her brother or her parents or grandparents. She also doesn’t like it when people smack their gum, or when they’re general assholes about everything.
In Character Questionnaire;
1. If you could visit anywhere for a week, where would you go?
I have no idea, actually. Wait, maybe— DC. I’d go to Washington DC. I’m really into all of the architecture and the monuments and everything else they’ve got down there. I know it sounds super fucking lame, but it’s where I’d go.
2. What one thing in the world would be hardest for you to give up?
My brother. Does that count?
3. Excluding romantic love, when was the last time you told someone you loved them? Who were they to you?
Probably yesterday afternoon, honestly. My twin brother. He’s a weirdo, and I love him for it.
4. What is your worst quality?
That’s a fucking easy question, isn’t it? I don’t know. Actually, that’s a lie. I do know. I hate how awkward I can be around people my age. Like, fucking hell, get it together, y’know?
5. What is your best quality?
... How the fuck— I dunno, really. My smile? Or something equally as predictable and lame. I like to think I’m quite funny, so maybe that’s it. My ability to joke about things, it’s keeping me sane.
6. What is your most immediately noticeable quality?
I’m very no nonsense. At least, I try to be. Sometimes it comes off as being super bitchy, and I’m sure plenty of people think I’m a total bitch, but y’know, shit happens I guess.
7. What is the first thing you notice about other people?
It depends on the environment. At work, I usually notice how well put together people are, how firm their handshake is, things like that. Outside of that, I notice smiles. I like people with nice smiles.
8. What happened in the last dream you remember?
I don’t even know. Something to do with making out with Chris Evans, maybe? Or Scarlett Johansson. Both of those are things that have happened to dream!Maisie. Lucky bitch.
9. What is one of your favorite ways to relax?
I take a lot of baths. Sometimes I drink, if I know I don’t have work to worry about in the near future. Otherwise, I read.
10. In general, are you happy with the person you have become?
I suppose so. I mean, I feel pretty okay about myself on any given day. My job’s decent, more than decent, really. So, what do I have to complain about?
