These fish would quickly develop into early amphibeous tetrapods which would over time develop into their more reptillian looking amphibious decendents such as frogs. Following this another phase of the ice age occured known as the “Karoo Ice Age”.

Well, judging from the sign, we’re in a place called Shikabe (pic 1).  They’ve also got a stamp rally (pic 2-4)!  This time, Ken-chan and I split the stamps together.

On the way out, I grabbed a map of the area.  It looks like where we just were (we just got back on the road now) does have an onsen.  Maybe the footbath was our Mizunashi Kaihin replacement?  It’s no onsen, but it DID feel really nice.  My feet are very happy right now.

Now we’re passing by a Russian cemetery (pics 1-3).  The gate is closed, plus it looks like there are hardly any graves in there (I mean, except for the giant one in the center), which is why we aren’t going in.

I don’t know where I’m going (story of my life, haha), so I’m just following Tomo-san and Ken-chan as they stroll down the street (pic 4).  

OMG, Japan!  How is it that even your signs asking people to recycle and throw away your trash are adorable (pics 5-6).

Oh hey!  There’s that giant temple again (pics 7-9).  And the little statues outside have those same red bibs that the ones at the shrine near the sharehouse have.

Going on a walk down the beach with Kei.  Community Day just started for Pokemon Go and it’s Ralts this month!  I missed the last Community Day because I was on the plane to come here (the exact same thing happened last year, too!).  I can’t play the entire three hours, but I’m hoping to catch as many shiny Ralts as I can!  The second one I caught was shiny so I’m already off to a good start!

It’s kind of hard to see in the first pic, but the areas of the beach that aren’t protected are pretty steep.  I wonder if the barriers were added because of fast currents.  Earlier, when we were playing with Ana-chan, I took it upon myself to keep watch and make sure she didn’t stray into the unprotected water.  I know she wasn’t going more than an inch or two into the water, but still.  She’s only what, two years old?

Farther along down the beach, Kei and I came across a decently sized creek (or small river?).  It’s really shallow so the water was pretty warm.

Watermelon flavored alcohol! And look, it’s got Braille on the top!  I can’t read Braille, but I imagine it says the same thing as the Japanese on the opposite side, which is, “This is alcohol.”
