Random Fact #2,050
Canadians can send letters, without stamps, to any MP at either their Ottawa or their constituency office.
If you’re sending it to their Ottawa office, all the recipient information necessary is
Ms./Mr. [Name], MP House of Commons Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6
If the MP you are contacting is a current or former cabinet member, the recipient information should be addressed like this (PC stands for “Privy Councillor”):
Hon. [Name], PC, MP House of Commons Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6
NOTE: If you are writing to an MP, it is recommended that you also send a copy of your letter to the relevant Minister (it too can be postage-free).
When addressing a letter to a Minister, it should look something like this:
Hon. [Name], PC, MP Minister of [Department they are Minister of] House of Commons Ottawa, ON K1A 0A6
