Postcard Row
"Postcard Row" or Steiner Street was developed by Matthew Kavanaugh in the 1890's. The buildings have become San Francisco's most distinctive houses. The name 'Postcard Row' is a reference to how often these buildings adhorn tourist postcards! Another name given to the buildings is 'The Painted Ladies of San Francisco'. The name derives from the colour used by the residents to accentuate their buildings architectural features. Each house has its own unique personality and colour scheme - the result is a fantastic array of colourful homes. The houses started as single coloured 'dull' Victorian buildings. But with the help of artists such as Kardum, Cataletich, Buckner and Wonders from the 60's to today the houses have been transformed into national treasures.
Postcard Row, 710 - 720 Steiner Street, San Francisco, USA 26cm high, 13cm wide, 5.5cm deep & 2kg approximately.
