#arkansashistory #hometownstuff #arkansas Post boxes from the old historic Arkansas City Post Office, donated when it closed, by the postmaster herself, to the Desha County Museum in my hometown. My dad and grandfather (Winchester postmaster for my whole childhood) collaborated on little wooden desktop coin banks that used the post box doors from the old Winchester post office, back when it closed. #postoffices are #liminalspaces, and these old boxes have always piqued my curiosity. I recently was reminded that I have postmasters going back several generations on my mom's side, all in small towns, all with interesting stories attached.
