So I was sitting around with a trans friend of mine and we started talking about how difficult it is to tackle the inequalities of being transsexual in modern society and one of the problems that seemed to keep coming up was the issue of sex and it's relation to the lgbt movement. Now I'm not talking about gender mind you but the actual physical act, with that in mind we were both pissed off because when you tie trans issues you lgb issues people have a tendency to boil those problems down to who or how you want to sleep with someone which in reality is about the furthest and least important part of the whole trans issue. In reality the issue of being transsexual is that you feel literally wrong in the body you are in and want to dis associate with it, you want to be male or female and you want people to recognize you as such first and foremost. Who you sleep with is like the least important part of the whole damn issue and when people boil it down to that it misses the whole point.
Later I started thinking about how much just the whole sex issue really just weighs down all the fucking arguments we have race, sex, gender, class, all this crap always has who you want to fuck wrapped up in the whole issue and I am so sick of it. So I sit here and propose something new, when we start talking about the issues that whatever group we find ourselves chattering on about we just leave out the whole "who do you want to fuck" issue and just assume that so long as everyone is an adult in decent mental health and is consenting we're cool and just look at them like they are people with problems we need to figure out? Isn't that the whole fucking reason we are talking about it?
