1.13.18 | Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution at the Beacon Theatre
My first show of 2018, my first time in New York and my first post!
One thing to make clear right of the bat is that Streetlight Manifesto has been my favorite band for many, many years. When this show was announced, I KNEW I had to make it happen. And to my luck, everything fell into place perfectly; airfare was cheap, easily booked an airbnb and snagged tickets right away.
Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution is Streetlight Manifesto, you guessed it, acoustic. This show was Bandits plus a FORTY PIECE ORCHESTRA. WHAT?! Yes. Amazing. Long story short, this show KILLED ME. DEAD. We laughed, we cried, we maybe thought we were having a heart attack. (We being the entire collective crowd.) It. was. that. good. This show was honestly everything I hoped for and more.
Streetlight’s music always has a calming effect on me, but to hear their music along with violins? Wow. I never thought I’d hear anything so visceral. It hit me straight in the heart and I relive that feeling each time I watch the videos.
I am so glad I took a chance and flew to a new city to see this show. It was one of the most meaningful nights of my life and I’m so glad my partner was there to experience it with me.
Well, that’s it! Not the strongest first post in history, but I honestly was so wrapped up in the night, it was all a whirlwind. (and I forgot I wanted to do this blog... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ )
I will now bid you farewell with the unexpected show stealer... PIANO GUY!
I lied. Here’s a bonus video.
