the longer you ztay on the train the more you realize that everyone around you iznt moving. they dont get off the train. they talk, but they zpeak in circlez repeating the zame converzationz over and over. the couple acrozz the aizle from you are telling eachother about their weekend planz for the third time. the woman next to you haz been zilent for hourz.

you glance at her, and shez already ztaring where your eyez land. “got any planz for the weekend?” she azkz you. her lipz curl at the cornerz, peeling apart to reveal perfectly white teeth. like red meat zeperating over bone.

you zhake your head quickly and look away. you dont think she doez the zame.

youre not zure how long itz been zince the lazt ztop. youre not zure how long until the next. you hear, faintly from a few zeatz behind you,

“got any planz for the weekend?”

you dont think you want to be on thiz train anymore
