Hey I just saw your post encouraging people learning German on here, and I was wondering if you maybe had any tips practicing grammar and such. I can watch TV in German, but trying to produce sentences myself I find incredibly difficult. Especially because it's the summer right now and I'm not taking a class, I need to get back into things! Thanks for being so supportive, I'm sure you know how frustrating learning a language can be ♥️♥️
Hi! It’s great that you’re getting listening practise which will definitely impact your studies positively. But I only really recommend intense movie/song immersion when you’re already more advanced with grammar. I definitely see your issue and I have the same thing with Italian because I lack practise. I got myself a work book for this to become better at grammar again but I’m also trying to reach out to native speakers because I feel like I learn best by doing.
The important thing is to tell the native speaker that it’s okay to correct you. When I practise German with people and they don’t specifically ask me to correct them, I often don’t because I feel like it would be rude and I do understand them most of the time. This might just be my German manners Idk.
I used to help a friend with her German and what she’d do was she’d write little stories with me. Every time I added to the story, I’d send her a correction of her text with lil explanations and I could see her improving every time.
So write, speak, write, speak, as much as you can! You’re totally welcome to submit texts to me for correction.
I hope this helped you a bit and if you have issues with specific grammar topics, don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Edit: if you can figure out which issue you’re struggling with the most, work on that. Is it verb conjugation? Practise that. Isolate your issues and work on them one by one. That way you’ll slowly but surely improve :)
