I figured this meant the end of the conversation so I turned and started the walk back to the compound. As soon as I was back in the city limits, it started pouring down rain. "Great Tavi possibly broke up with me and now I'm stuck in the rain," I mutter to myself. After five more minutes of trudging along and getting soaked, the rain seemed to stop hitting me. 'Where is your… uh boyfriend?" A voice asks me. Turning my head in the direction it came from I saw Elliot easily keeping pace with me. "We kinda had a fight and he ran off." I confide in him. Outside of Tavi, Elliot and Bloodhound were my only true friends. If I couldn't confide in either one of them then what was the point in being friends?
'Was it about the whole dad thing? Ajay had mentioned it as you two were leaving." He wrapped his arm around my shoulders and started leading me somewhere. Deciding to finish the conversation in case we’re heading somewhere with people I say, “yeah he’s so mad that I didn’t tell him about his dad threatening me if we didn’t break up cuz of some plan the guy has.” Elliot hums softly as the lights around us seem to be getting brighter. “Anything else you want off your chest before we head into the lounge to get you dried off?” The lack of a stutter didn’t surprise me. When Elliot knew what he wanted to say and was calm or serious he didn’t trip over his words as much. “I think… I think he broke up with me tonight.” I say before yanking the door open and walking inside with a fake smile.
“Where’s Tav?” Ajay asks me as she leads me to a spare room on the upper floor of the lounge. I shrugged at her and tried not to break down crying when I heard one of the songs Tavi used to play for me through the walls. “He didn’t break up with you, right?” she was worried about both of us and entering mom mode. Heaving a sigh I tell her, “not officially no, but the way he ran away from me before the conversation truly ended said it for him.” I try to keep my voice leveled.
Once in the room, I strip off the outer layers of my outfit and head into the bathroom. When the water started and I plugged the tub up for a nice relaxing bath I heard Aja in the room on her phone. “What ya mean Tavi, she told you as soon as she was able.” There was a long pause as he replied and by the sound of Ajay’s voice she wasn’t too happy with what he said. “Ya shouldn’t be making rash decisions like that when ya mad! You could lose the things most important to ya, ya fool.” another pause as Octavio says something. I walk over to the tub to check on the water level before slowly sinking in. I hear a soft “Octavio, you just now got her and you’re gonna let her go over what? A little mess up? Poor girl is hurting so bad she can’t hide it even though she’s trying her hardest.” a shorter pause this time, “Call me back when ya get ya head outta ya ass.”
About two hours later I emerge from the bathroom to find dry, warm clothes on the bed. Picking up the long sleeved shirt I noticed a big green r in the center and that the sweats were black with yellow lettering spelling out Elliots catchphrase. I smile and slip the clothes on and sit on the bed to dry my hair off. A soft knock on the door and the soft cawing of a raven knock me out of the mental nothingness I was forcing myself to feel. “Come in, I'm decent Hound.” The door creaks open and there’s Bloodhound and Elliot holding a tray of steaming hot food. “We weren’t sure what you wanted so we both cooked a little something.” Elliot confesses and hands me the tray.
Bloodhound sits on one side of me as Elliot takes the otherside. Neither of them say anything more, but just sit there with me keeping me company as I eat. When the food was finished and I was sipping on the homemade coco Bloodhound made, did one of them break the silence. “What’s the plan?” I hum at Elliot in question. “Since Oc-Octane did what he did, what’s the plan?” Hound reaches a hand up and combs their fingers through my hair. I shrug “I don’t have a plan besides trying to heal from this. If Tavi really wants to break up over this then it’ll be his loss in the end. If not then I’ll be ready to help fix all of this.” The humming coming from behind me where Hound was now braiding my hair let me know that they were paying attention. “Until then I’ll do what I have been doing, training, showing off during the games, avoiding press conferences unless they’re mandatory and I won’t be helping the three of them pry into Duardo’s involvement in Maggie getting into the games.”
The duo stayed with me for a few hours after the conversation ended and now I was faced with the daunting task of trying to sleep or dealing with my feelings over what happened. I decided to sleep. Tossing and turning didn’t seem to help any with the sleeping, but neither did sleeping itself. I was either plagued with thoughts about what happened or dreams of it repeating over and over. When I heard banging downstairs and noticed the sun peaking through the curtain I got up and went to find the source of the noise.
Walking downstairs I noticed Ramya digging through the cupboards looking for something. “Need any help Ramya?” I question as I walk closer. She seemed to not have heard my approach since she banged her head standing up after I spoke. “Oh (y/n) I didn’t know you were still here.” walking further into the kitchen I quickly locate the coffee and set a pot on to brew. “Why ain’t ya at the compound like everyone else?” she questioned as she moved around looking for something. “I could ask you the same,” I pointed out which earned me a chuckle. “I got a few customers this morning.” she says, I hum and grab two coffee mugs and the creamer. “So fancy telling me now since I told you?” I keep my back to her as I turn to rummage through the fridge. “Got into a fight with Tavi last night and didn’t wanna head back.” I tell her knowing that if Elliot trusted her enough to live here she was trustworthy enough to tell about this.
“Sheesh sounds like the dude hit his head on a bloody speed train.” This caused me to chuckle as I made us some scrambled eggs and bacon while the coffee brewed. “Yeah and the worst part was he ran before I could ask if he meant it as a breakup or if he was just feeling hurt. I think not knowing and only being able to assume things is making me feel worse than if he would have said those words.” The rest of the morning was full of laughter and work as I gave Ramya a hand with her shop and customers.
