Will you give me 5 minutes of your time for a little bit of crazy yapping
Ok so something like a month ago (some time in March) I notice the beautiful pothos that are in my uni library. I pace a little wondering "damn. do you think they'd let me get a piece of that. so I can propagate it at home."
short answer : yes.
SO I carefully get some cuttings and shove them in some water back at home so they can start developing roots. It's slow. but as soon as those roots peek out I throw the cuttings in some dirt with the others aaannd... It did not work. They're not rooting, they're getting flopy, the stems are darkening and eventually I loose one or two cuttings. I think "ok. it's not too surprising, I remember my n'joy pothos being a little slow as well so that's fine"
But time passes. and passes. and still no roots. leaves are still floppy. I start to get a little annoyed; and a day after repotting the other pothos cuttings I decide "fuck it, back in the water you go, might as well try this one more time before you die" and so I did; cut the rotten parts of the stems, told them to lock in if they want to live, the leaves harden as they drink some good ol' wadder and roots start to form. quicker.
What did I do differently you may ask. I made them listen to some classical music every once in a while.
YES THAT'S RIGHT. CLASSICAL MUSIC. started out with Holst's Planets and Carnival of the Animals by Camille Saint-Saëns and followed by a compilation I liked. LO AND BEHOLD. ROOTS. ROOTS AND A NEW LEAF ON A PREVIOUSLY QUITE WEAK STEM (in the middle) AND LIKE. IT HAPPENED FASTER THAN THE FIRST TIME I HAD TRIED?! I AM FLABBERGASTED.
I know this is scientifically proven but HELLOOOOO SEEING IT WITH MY OWN TWO EYES IS CRAZYYYYY
only 3 days old and i can already see roots peeking through!
my mom agreed to let me trim her pothos plant that has a few vines about 7ft long but i gotta find some more jars to fit them in. im hoping to put them back in the original plant once they root to make it fuller bc ours is very viney.
this little guy is gonna go in my personal pothos planter tho! he's covered in nodes so im super excited to see what happens
