Hocus Pocus

I love an afternoon tea and was very excited to find a one in Soho that’s more than a little bit of hocus pocus.  Over in Brewer Street is cake shop Cutter & Squidge and they have just introduced Potion Room.  This is an absolute MUST for any Harry Potter fans out there! Found on the lower floor, you descend down some steps into a wizarding world of potions and magical wands.  Firstly you get to wear your own cloak and a wizard professor greets you and guides you to your school desk.  Then you get to use all manner of different coloured potions to create your own alchemy galaxy juice cocktail.  There’s surprises that come from a cauldron and rock cakes are delivered warm in brown paper nags by special delivery.  The tea options include one made of unicorn tears and elixir of life tea, a personal tea pot passed out to each wizarding student!  The food was delicious, served in a cake, there were finger sandwiches inc. roast dinner flavour! Yorkshire puddings with beef and hot leek and potato pies.  There was mini knickerbocker bites, a bit like a trifle, with raspberry and chocolate.  My fave was a chocolate butterscotch biscuit sandwich which was rich and oh so moorish!  Afterwards you may want to peruse their store for quirky wizard themed gifts. So much fun and super interactive, an entirely magical experience!
