The Potomac Bakery
Oh the Potomac Bakery! This gem here is located in Dormont, but there is another location in Mt. Lebanon. It is slowly becoming one of my favorite bakeries in the Burgh... And I say this because I find myself thinking about her some days and contemplating just making the drive out for when I need a sweet fix. The bakery is a little on the small side, but they offer a great deal of delicious confections, cakes, pastries, cookies, cannolis, tarts, and BROWNIES. I don’t know if this is a self-proclaimed thing on their end, or even intentionally done, but many of their delicious treats are adorned in some way with powdered sugar. This photo is from the first time I made the trip out and it was just before Christmas. And it was so magical to walk in and see the snow on the ground, but also the beautiful powdered sugar adorning the bakery cases. I mention their brownies with such intensity because they are the absolute perfect brownie, in my opinion. They are not overly chocolate-y and have an extremely airy chocolate frosting; and not for nothing, but the bottom of the brownie is covered in powdered sugar. They also have delectable lemon tarts and a parfait style cake in a cup called “Charlotte’s.” If you are in Pittsburgh, definitely check them out. As I always say, the staff is extremely friendly... And I’m starting to think that it may just be a Pittsburgh thing..
