Harry Potter Fandom Question!

So I like Harry Potter but I uh..I dont like any of the books or movies? But I love the concept and the world that has been built, but not a big fan of the canon story.. am I allowed to be in the fandom?

And because of my tentative fandom status, can I make a HarryPotter!Oc? Like I really really want to.
