I love the idea of pottery classes Jean and Jeremy are attending cause imagine them spontaneously starting making out after one of those and staining their skin with each other's fingerprints dirty from clay.

Human ⚡️🐍 • Valentine's Date • My Patreon community members voted for Thor and Loki to attend pottery class as their date. Loki made a pretty flower vase. 😌

To any professional or hobbyist, my pottery must be the equivalent of a mud pie, that being said I'm really proud of how its turning out!
My project this semester for ceramic class was to make four 3 dimensional sculptures or pottery with a specific theme. I choose eyes because for some reason I'm really into drawing and making eyes (which is ironic considering I have issues with eye contact). Some of them weren't finished in time but it counts regardless so i presented it as well as a snorlax jewelry tray I made during class while figuring out wtf i was gonna do.
Anyway, heres the results:
So I started pottery class last week (we meet once a week) and trying to center on the wheel is kicking my ass. Do you have any advice for an absolute beginner?
well, you could do what I did and switch to handbuilding? 😅
I’m afraid I never got very proficient on the wheel. if you see wheel thrown pieces amongst my work, they were thrown for me by one of my studio partners (or they’re at least five years old)
the only advice I have that might be of any use is to give yourself time! you just started learning a difficult skill, and you’ll improve every time you throw something new
if any wheel throwers are seeing this, do you have any advice?
