So, we haven't tried to push the potty training on Daxx because everyone (including the books) has told us if we force it, it will just take longer. Every once in awhile I would ask, do you want to go potty, and of course I got a big "NO!" so I would leave it alone and go on with my day.
My boss's brother told me that he let his son run around naked during the day and would just ask him throughout the day if he needed to use the restroom. He said his son was potty-trained within 2 weeks. I was shocked! Of course I decided to try. I let Daxx run around without a diaper and asked him often if he needed to "pee pee" or "poo poo". He repeatedly told me "No!", so I moved on and continued with whatever I was doing. His daddy was in the restroom taking care of business, but left the door open. (You know you do it sometimes. None of us are sure why. Maybe it's so we don't feel so cut off from the rest of the world while we ponder our futures and our dreams! Ha!) Daxx decided to go shut the restroom door and then proceeded to squat and take care of his own business. Daddy may not have needed his privacy, but apparently Daxx did! Yes, he #2'd on my floor. Potty train fail.
Recently we went shopping for a potty book and big boy underwear. Yesterday, we proudly wore our Disney Car's undies and discussed how we would tell mommy if he needed to go to the restroom. We sat and waited. After a few minutes, Daxx jumps off the couch and when I asked if he needed to go to the restroom he yelled, "YEA!" Like a mad woman I ran with him to the restroom and then he did it. He used the potty!! I seriously felt like I had just made it through the first level of toddler-ville in this crazy game of life! I was so proud! I wanted to shout from my balcony all while doing the crazy-proud mommy dance!
WOOHOO! SO PROUD OF YOU DAXX BABY!
