Expression studies after the movie Emma, starring Anya Taylor-Joy. I love her very controlled, nuanced, and socially coded acting, so in tune with the book and with those times. But this was also the difficulty to exaggerate these expressions. I think it could have been pushed further, but that's something I want to explore in my next study :) Also I think this piece feels like May, the colors, the breezy atmosphere, the lightness.

This was a study I started earlier this year and left unfinished — until now. Lately, I’ve been fascinated by aged sculptures — especially those weathered by time and covered in mossy, bluish-green patina. They feel like time itself has left its fingerprints on the stone. I imagined what it would look like if these statues were given life — not just in gesture, but in presence. The figure on the left was inspired by The Progress of Love: The Meeting by Fragonard, while the other two are studies based on references by @studiografit.

When I drew these ladies I was exploring chunky proportions and I thought it would be interesting to sprinkle some Regency Fashion flavor over them. So if you like these ladies, the entire Regency collection is now in my shop as stickers, ready to decorate your sketchbook or whatever little corner of your world :)

Compact poses with lots of overlapping and perspective are really challenging for me. But thinking in volumes seems to help — it gives my brain something to hold on to, and with it, a bit of that much-needed sense of control.

I got completely stuck on this piece, especially around the pelvis and ribcage. My mind just couldn’t make sense of it. After wasting precious time (I only get about an hour a day to work, usually interrupted), my frustration was through the roof.

Pushing through wasn’t helping, so I stepped away and started something else instead. That approach usually works for me — it helps me reset and saves time in the long run. Still, it’s not always easy to sit with the frustration.

Happy spring! ✨🦋☀️ I wanted to paint a violet themed flower head for a few years. I actually sketched this last year, but only now I came back to it, changed up the linedrawing and added the colors. The last finishing touches was the hardest part.

I've been noodling this for ages now, time to let go. It all started as a study of planar structure of the face. I wanted to give it more character, so it looks like a finished piece and not just a study...and it seemed never ending. Hope you enjoy these ladies ☺️
