“You won't like that one,” you warned her, as she sauntered over to the cart holding the jug of juice. Staring at you blankly, Power slowly lowered it into the cart.
“Yes I will. I’ve had this kind before,” she declared. She dropped the juice carton, making the cart shake.
This was a lie. She simply picked it because of its color; her favorite color. Cranberry.
“Uh–no, that one is gonna be really tart and like…kind of sour. You hate sour things, remember?”
Not too long ago, Power asked to try a piece of pineapple.
“Let me try one of those yellow things,” she said.
Sitting on the balcony together, Aki stretched his arm over to her, holding the glass container firmly.
“Here. But only touch the piece you're going to eat,” he warned. He watched her like a hawk, his eyes not wavering as she let her fingers dance above each piece, purposefully being ‘picky’ just to rile him up. You could see Aki trying to steady his breathing while Power played her tricks.
She snatched a piece suddenly when he pulled back out of frustration. Her lightning speed was so sudden, he almost dropped the container. Even Aki, who has impeccable reflexes, gets startled by her from time to time. She’s pretty cunning and he couldn't always anticipate her next move. He gave her a quick scowl before eating a piece himself.
Power laughed menacingly and took a bite of the pineapple. Her eyes bulged immediately.
She spat the pineapple out in your direction, a large piece hitting you in the cheek, saliva splattering across your arm.
“Disgusting! Why would you feed me that, you jerk!”, she yelled, clawing at her tongue. If you hadn’t grabbed Aki by the collar, a fist fight would have ensued.
Aki turns the corner of the aisle carrying a bag of cat food and Power spins around him. He sees the juice in the cart and tilts his head, regarding it.
“That’s not coming home with us.”
“I want it! It’s my favorite drink.” Power rushes over holding stacks of beef flavored ramen.
“No it’s not. You won’t like it.”
Aki grabs it out of the cart, “None of us like this flavor and I know for a fact someone will spill it. And I’ll be the one cleaning up the stain.”
