” Get Out of the Building Part 2″
This march, the annual race comes back to manila for records to be broken. Familiar and new teams were again competing head to head with each other for efficiency. This is the last year for the Manila leg of the competition and the winning urban vehicles will compete in London (Road to London).
Teams have already passed the technical inspection on the first day. Don, our team captain last SEMA 2014 who now works for Shell, volunteered as a technical inspector. He said that Philippine team improved not just in numbers but also our level of innovation.
In the end, DLSU’s urban electric vehicle got the first place and secured the spot for the London event. UP’s urban electric vehicle came up short for bagging the third place of the said category. Mapua’s gasoline prototype vehicle got the second place beating Vietnam. We have saw personally USC’s diesel prototype vehicle running on the track together with Nanyang’s electric prototype vehicle. USC got the third place in their category.
Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand are among the top countries that garnered the most awards. Next host country for the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia is not yet announced. But the latest performance of the Philippine team shows that the world will gonna see more of our world class innovation.
