Thoughts on Psalm 150:6
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.”
Why is the Bible always telling us to praise God? The Lord isn’t some almost-huan being who needs to be propped up by nice words from another human. Nor does He desire praise because He’s a weakling. Instead, He tells us to praise Him because by doing that, our hearts recognize His infinite greatness and powerfulness. Only by praise can we recognize who He is and how small we are in comparison. Praise opens our eyes to God’s true character. With it, we can voice how much we appreciate the world He created for us, the love He freely gives, and the thousands of other graces He offer us. As we comprehend God’s greatness, we more completely appreciate His mercy and love in sending Jesus. Through Jesus, the all-powerful One stepped into our world and became one of us. He only took that step so that He could also own our hearts.
