@powerseeking whispered: dantes office was littered with books or magazines. a disorganized mess he paid no mind to, despite irritation, but as he stays there ( under house arrest ) something catches his attention as he walks around ; dante had gone out on a mission, so he was alone with his older self. was it truly that book he had seen ? he thinks, before casting eyes away. the younger one strays to keep an ignorant mind to it, but it tugs at memories deep down ; how on earth did he have it ? was it just a replica of the book ? it had to be. it was the only logical conclusion to him. turning on his heel, he takes a seat. ❛ why do you stay ? or best yet, return what is mine. ❜ he gestures about yamato, after they had stripped it from him, ensuring the little vergil didn't cause a mess in their own world ( already having so much to clean up ) or quickly vanish without a trace. but it's evident it's all a ploy of distraction away from that book. ( first of all, sorry vergil FSHJSFHJ)

It’s nothing that he finds himself necessarily AGAINST doing , but he doesn’t believe himself to be all too keen on it . As long as Yamato was kept from his possession , he proved to be little more than a bother in the short term , but the constant PACING proved to be more than what Vergil had signed up for . Piercing gaze watching closely for a short period of time , he settles for another sip of his Darjeeling & shifting pale gaze towards the book in his hand ( notes from the underground , not that it was pertinent to anything in the present ) . He senses the light change in atmosphere once his younger self falls still & looks towards him , though for the majority he pays him little mind . At least until he approaches to seat himself across from him . Vergil glances up once again , faint frown resting on his lips only for it to slowly ease into IMPASSIVENESS at the directed question . The younger image could do what he was capable of in order to divert any line of questioning towards HIMSELF , but that did not stop the elder from noting the quick glances & subsequent aversions of gaze towards the book sitting near the corner of the battered coffee table .
❛ The simple answer is that I know myself & that which I am capable of . The honest answer ? I have no desire to deal with Dante’s imbecilities while on a mission . ❜ 𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐢𝐦 𝐚𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐬 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐝 , leaning forward to set the cup of tea next to the childhood item , watching his younger reflection for any sign of UNEASE . ❛ . . . both you & I know that returning the Yamato to you would prove to be more trouble than it’s worth . If you’re looking to kill some time , you should pick up a book to read . ❜
