“What are you staring at?” A pair of black eyes stare back at him, a shock of red hair just above the water of the tainted lake of Zaun. The words bubble up from the water, voice raspy and hoarse. (Have siren Rufus for your boy)
{⚙️}: Viktor wasn’t even certain why he had come here. He supposed he had been feeling introspective, and sitting up on his usual perch just wouldn’t do. Instead, he had decided to take a walk. A walk down a sandy patch of beach that his uneven steps had covered many times over. He could hear the water trickling, flowing into what he knew was a small cave down below. It was a nice day, and he remembered he always loved how the sun glittered on the water’s surface during this hour. It was unfortunate, he thought, he hadn’t brought his boat.
He walked along, leaving old memories behind as he followed the water. It was strange, how odd it felt now, not to have the sun shine directly onto his face as he went. He had been so used to the shade down here. Was Piltover making him forget? Stopping then, a little out if breath, Viktor leaned heavily on his crutch. Walking, these days, had grown into even more of a chore than it had always been, what with his growing weakness and increasing pain. He wasn’t even certain how he was going to get back to the Academy, now.
As he stared out at the water, he thought he saw... something. Something odd, so out of place that it made a shiver run down his spine. He squinted, taking a step forward in an effort to get a better look. That was when it spoke.
So startled by the sound of the watery voice, Viktor scrambled backwards, losing his balance on the sandy shore. He fell back, pain bursting upwards through his spine as he hit the ground. His legs were sprawled in front of him, his arms having instinctively moved back to catch him. Beside him, lay his walking crutch. For a moment, all he could do was sit there, staring, wide-eyed at the... thing.
“You— What—“ his chest heaved, and his eyes darted over the face of the... man? “What... are you?”
