Poppy Playtime Spoilers!

The Prototype’s relationship with Poppy might be the most complex relationship I’ve seen in the game so far. I always found it peculiar how awfully attached he was to her, and I was curious as to what their backstory was to have him become so obsessed with her. Even Lily said so herself that Poppy was the Prototype’s favorite.

But after watching all of the Prototype’s scenes and hearing his audio tapes, it turns out that Poppy and the Prototype are siblings. Siblings! This makes their relationship make so much sense now.

The Prototype definitely gives older, over-protective brother vibes.

Example One: He doesn’t tolerate any disrespect or mockery from anyone that is directed towards Poppy.

Example Two: When the Prototype shattered Poppy’s face, he actually flinches and looks at his hand like he’s regretful and horrified at what he’s done. I don’t think he even meant to hurt her. The Prototype has not abused Poppy in any way, except for mentally when he locked her away in the case. Besides that, he never dared to lay a hand on her.

Example Three: When he sees that Lily was trying to grab Poppy while she was injured, the Prototype slaps Lily away so that no one else could cause any more damage to Poppy.

Here’s a couple of voice lines that showcase how incredibly fixated the Prototype is with Poppy.

Chapter Five

The Prototype wanted Poppy and himself to stay inside Playtime Co. forever because he knew that it would be the only safe place for two of them considering their physical circumstances. In the Prototype’s mind, everything that he has done, the good, the bad, and the ugly (mostly the last two): have all been for Poppy’s sake.

Poppy is the Prototype’s angel, the only good thing he has left. The only family he’ll ever have. He loves her more than anything else, and he will do whatever he has to do to keep her safe, in his own twisted way.

Why I love both the Doctor & the Prototype AKA: Harley Sawyer & Oliver/Ollie (My two fav antagonists)

One thing that I've always appreciated about Poppy Playtime is their villains, specifically how just fucking disgusting yet tragic they are..

What I mean is that, no matter how the fandom portrays certain characters (which, in this case, are these two fuckers I absolutely adore with all my heart), the game doesn't try to alter anything about how they behave or what their personalities are.

And that might not be a surprise to some people, but to me, it's surprising because I've seen this happen to other franchises so many times that it's rare to see something like this happen.

But to get back on topic, the Doctor, ohh my god! Where do I even start with this guy?

This guy's an asshole. We can understand that much at least. He took part in torturing kids and got what he deserved. Is a self-absorbed man who takes pride in himself and his experiments, congratulates the work others have done as his own (From a note in chapter 5). Like, he's soooo fucking dispicable and I love him for it!

The prototype started the Hour of Joy, but doesn't really see Catnap or any other toy as a friend or partner, but just as something worth keeping alive due to his usefulness. He is a prideful lunatic who thinks what he's doing is the right thing to do, and would kill anyone who disobeys him. (Although he does respect other experiments since he knows what it's like to be hurt as well..) He has this weird god complex where he sees himself as someone who could do no wrong. And thus, anyone else who suggests an alternative would be turned wrong side out.

But y'know what?

These two are also tragic as well in their own right. And they have a few things in common too, actually..

They were both betrayed by the same person that they looked up to, and thought would be there for them: Elliot Ludwig.

Harley, being kicked out of the Young Geniuses' Program, and the Prototype being turned into an experiment, endured a lot of suffering all for someone else. Having his life in someone else's hands. Making him feel like his life was all a waste.

And these two likely have come from an abusive household, as well.

And all in all, these are the perfect recipe for a despicable yet tragic being. And on top of that! Mob doesn't even try to sugarcoat any of their actions at all!! Which, of course, they wouldn't. But, again! I've seen other corporate companies make the same mistake so.. yeah.

Like, these two are fucking horrible people, at the same time, have enough going on about them that make them so interesting! Unlike other characters who are just unrealistically evil, like Leith and Eddie.

Anyhow, this was just me rambling on abt why I love Poppy Playtime again! But also just these two being evil with enough depth to go around.

Also, they're desgins are just so fucking cool! Istg, the Prototype is beautiful, goddamn it. I love my platonically yandere son.

And the doctor is just entertaining yet interesting GAHH!!!!!!! I LOVE 'EM BOTH!

Catnap is also tragic as hell! honestly wish we got more tapes of Yarnab w/ the Doctor and Catnap w/ the Prototype in chapters 3~5 'cause that would've deepened their dynamics, which would've been perfect, but again, I digress.

Honestly, might make a post abt Catnap and Lily Lovebraids on a separate post, but I like their characters for a slightly different reason than these two fuckers.
