Women in Mahabharata - Varastri

She is the sister of Vrihaspati, an extremely learned woman- a brahmavaadini and perhaps the earliest noted globetrotter.

She eventually marries Dyu/Prabhasa, the youngest of the Ashta-vasus. Her son is Vishvakarma, the architect of the Devas.

When Prabhasa is cursed by Varuna's son Vaishishtha to take birth as Bheeshma in the mortal realm, she waits for his return.

Women in Mahabharata - Prabhata

She is a consort of Brahma's grandson and Manu's son Prajapati. Her sons are Pratyusha and Prabhasa, the last two among the ashta-Vasus. She is the grandmother of rishi Devala through Pratyusha and Vishvakarma through Prabhasa. Prabhasa is also noted as the pre-incarnation of Devavrata Bheeshma.

Devala has two sons, and one of them (by only certain sources) is the rishi Shandilya, and a daughter named Suvarchala. Devala is also associated with Dhaumya, the Pandavas' priest. Vishvakarma's daughter Tvashtri/Saranyu is married to Surya, the foremost of the Adityas.
