Some of you may see my post about donating money to PWS, but is like hey I have never heard of it so I am not donating. Here is a break down of what it is from FPWR (For Prader-Willi Research)…
~Prader-Willi Syndrome(PWS), is a complex and rare genetic disorder occurring in approximately one out of every 15,000 birth, affecting all races and genders with equal frequency.
~PWS is caused by the abnormal inactivation of portion of chromosome 15.
~The symptoms of PWS are varied and dramatic. The most notable symptom is an insatiable hunger, and most people with PWS are not able to control their food intake.
~ Hyperphagia coupled with metabolism requiring only 60% of calories of typical peer can lead to excessive eating, diabetes, morbid obesity and even DEATH!!!
~In addition to constantly feeling hungry, people with PWS may also suffer from challenges such as: short stature, scoliosis, seep disturbances, difficulty controlling emotions, speech apraxia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, cognitive delays, skin picking and mental illness.
So now that you know what PWS is please donate in honor of my daughter and all of the other children and adults with PWS… http://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/rosesgarden …..
