Chic My Pram

So…..You are set with your new wheels that you will be cruising around in for the next few years (well… baby will be cruising…mamma will be doing the hard yakka pushing!)  Firstly give yourself a pat on the back for FINALLY choosing a pram after weeks of studying every one on the market, making pros and cons lists and literally earning yourself a degree in pram - anthology! Now you are ready for your Masters on how to use the damn thing and how to accessorise it to fit your lifestyle! 

I won’t be helping you with the operational functions (you can have fun mastering that on your own) but I can give you some tips, advice and go-to destinations for some of the accessories….not necessarily general items like rain covers etc…I’m sure you have that covered and can easily find them…..but some other really cool bells and whistles! 

PRAM LINER

If there is one thing you need it is a pram liner.  You little one might be all still, clean and angelic now, but when they start eating it all changes and the MESS starts! So it it important to protect the seat to keep them in good condition….you never know you might sell or give away the pram one day….and if you have little grotty bubbas like mine then you certainly don’t want things growing from the seat. TRUST ME you will find crumbs, food scraps, dirt etc. in all the crevices.

There are some amazingly creative people out there crafting gorgeous pram liners.  Make sure that:

You chose one that is suitable for your pram type type

It has firm and thick (250gsm) inner wadding filling.  Some are a bit flimsy and tend to move around a bit.  

Ones with a fleece backing (I find) sit really well. 

Ensure it is machine washable and breathable fabric.

PRAM CADDY

The carrier thing that you attach across the handle bar.  SUPER handy for when you don’t want to take a bag and for placing some of your belongings in there such as wallet or coin purse, phone, keys, lippy, snacks, transport card, drink bottles etc. Most prams have a matching caddy that can be separately purchased. If you one thats got a bit of style ….some pattern or colour the there are some handy links below. 

Some buying tips:

Ideally one that has 3 or so compartments

One that has a zippable compartment for storing those valuble belongings in.

Easy wipe and washable

Easily attached to your pram (velcro straps or clips etc.) Always measure so you know that it will attach.

DRINK HOLDER

Okay so I may get some backlash over this…so here it goes…….You are going to have to hold your coffee when you walk.  Whaaaat!!??? you say…Believe me…when you are out an about walking around you will come to know the ground is VERY bumpy and uneven and your pram will be bopping up and down and your coffee is going to be splattering everywhere (and YES through the tiny drink spout).  So unless you are having a cruisey day at a shopping mall or a gentle stroll on FLAT footpath then you will be holding that coffee-to-go (or it will literally be coffee-to-go-everywhere!). My suggestion is to get yourself an insulated coffee cup with a spout that you can glide closed and find a cup holder that will acommodate.

HANDLE COVERS

Those handlebars are going to be getting a lot of bumps and beating action especially when transferring in and out of the car and going through doors etc.  Protect these from scratches and marks with handle bumpers.  These add style and class too! Booyah!
