Goodbye Prancing Moose Magnet
Dear Prancing Moose Magnet,
You clung on to to my NG900 in 2010 and stayed there, faithfully through car washes, rain, snow, ice, summer, winter, spring and fall. We went autocrossing in Anchorage, we went fishing in Valdez. You followed me from Alaska to Alabama, crossing the entire North American continent. You enjoyed the beautiful empty roads of Alaska and the Yukon. You held on for the fast ride through stunning scenery from Washington State to South Dakota. When the scenery got boring you asked nothing else than to stay stuck to the rear end of a Swedish car. That was your duty, that was your love.
When the NG900 arrived in Germany you were filled with joy when once again you adorned a Trollhättan car. We drove through the German country side, visited castles, farms, valleys and hills. We visited the Porsche museum, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. You were thrilled with dangerous excitement when we went into the Autobahn and drove the turbo SAAB up to 145 mph. We even went to France to look at a twenty-five year old C900 for sale.
When the C900 followed us home you jumped at the opportunity to adorn its rear end. As good as you looked on the rear of the NG900, you looked better on the classic SAAB, as if you truly belonged there, as if you should have been there from the factory. The driving was slower, but with the slower pace you had more time to appreciate the scenery. We met with the SAAB Club Franken, and with the SAAB Club Rhein Main.
Bystanders on the road and drivers behind us would always look at you. Through my rear view mirror I could see you bringing a smile to other driver's face. Not a fancy prancing horse on an Italian exotic, but a strong prancing moose on a Swedish down-to-earth smile machine.
Well, today you have departed us, hopefully to go grace the end of another SAAB somewhere else. May your travels lead to the rear end of a two stroke 96, a 9-3 Viggen, a 9000, NG9-5 or even an old classic 95 wagon. Maybe even a Sonett with the help of some glue. Where ever your moose prancing ways lead you, may a SAAB look better with your presence on its rear.
Sorrily missing you,
Your SAAB driver
PS: If I find that some punk ass German kid lifted you off my trunk and is now fixed you to his mom's schnitzel and beer cooler I'll chop his balls off and make some hackfleisch, then have you give him the moose stomp.
