“Good morning! I’m Dr. Pravesh, and I’m going to be taking care of you today.” Devon introduced himself as he walked up to a bed in the ER.
His patient that day was a young woman, and her eyes widened when she saw her doctor. “Well hello, Dr. Pravesh. Suddenly, I’m not so upset to be in a hospital.”
Dean chuckled good-naturedly, “I’m honored, but I’d still like to get you out of here as soon as possible.”
The patient shook her head. “I’ll be fine staying as long as you’re here.”
Pravesh humored the patient while he checked out her injured leg. “Yep, that’s definitely broken,” he then pointed out. “You’re going to have to see our head of orthopedic surgery.”
“No!” she playfully whined, “I want you to fix me!”
Devon shrugged. “Sorry. Someone will be with you in a moment. Someone who isn’t me,” he added to tease her as he was walking away.
“I really wish strangers would stop hitting on you,” you pointed out as you signed your name on some paperwork at the nurses’ station.”
Again, he shrugged. Devon leaned back against the counter with the smuggest look on my face. “What can I say? I’m irresistible.”
Rolling your eyes, you quickly finished what you were doing, and put it away. You turned and walked away from Devon.
Needless to say, that took him off guard. “Whoa Y/n, wait!” He cut you off before you got to the door. “Are you really jealous?” The question wasn’t accusatory. Devon was truly surprised.
Sighing, you declared, “I see at least three people offer you sex every week. As your girlfriend, yeah. I’m a little jealous.”
Devon defended himself. “You know I would never do that to you, right?”
“...Of course. I know that,” you conceded. “But knowing it doesn’t make it such any less. You didn’t have anything else to say, so you kept walking.
Hours later in your shift, you hadn’t talked to Devon since. That was, until he walked up to you with a flower in his hand.
You observed it as it spun between your fingers before turning your gaze back up to Devon.
He explained his actions. “I will give you one of those every time someone hits on me, inside or outside of this hospital. I’d like it to remind you of us and how I feel about you. Okay?”
A few more spins later, and you nodded. “Yeah, okay. This is pretty cute of you, by the way. Thank you.”
“Anytime,” he smiled. “So, since that’s over, may I point out how adorable you are when you’re jealous?”
“Shut up,” you forced your grin down into a half-smirk.
Devon continued, “I’m serious. That little pot of yours kills me every time I see it.”
“You keep going like that, Pravesh, and you’ll be buying me a whole bouquet of flowers to try and get back into my bed.”
He shut up, but Devon was still chuckling on his way back to the ER.
