Summary: You and Rupert were on the phone during a storm when he jokingly dared you to come over his house if you wanted to see him so badly. You do just that.
Warnings: Cursing I guess
It was too late when Rupert saw you approaching his house. You had already made the trek. By the time Rupert yanked on his coat and ran to the door, you met him there.
"Y/n?! What the fuck are you--?!" He was so alarmed, he didn't know how to finish the question.
You stood there in front of him, shivering like a chihuahua. "You dared me to," was all you said in return.
For a moment, Rupert looked like a deer in headlights as he remembered the phone call the two of you had just only about two hours ago. "I wasn't...being serious..." he finally spoke aloud.
"Oh...then I guess I'll go home." You turned to leave.
Rupert gently caught your arm. "Don't you dare. It was dangerous enough you walking here in this weather. I'm not letting you leave...at least until you've warmed up. Which, by the looks of it, will be a process itself."
"And how will you warm me up, Mr. Camp...bell...ACHOO!" You had sneezed.
Half an hour later, you continued to shiver in front of Rupert's main fireplace. He came in to deliver you some tea.
"You shouldn't take everything I say so literally," Rupert told you as he poured you a cuppa.
"I can't help it. It's something I've always done, since I was a child." Your eyes were transfixed on the fire. They portrayed no hurt as you said, "I'm sorry, I thought you wanted me here."
"Don't--" The word came out of his mouth forcefully, but when you looked at him, he wasn't angry. On the contrary, Rupert was looking at you like you could disappear at any moment. "Please, don't say that. I always want you...here."
You smiled, "It's rare I get to see you so tongue-tied."
Rupert's face matched yours. "I think you'll find that I'm tongue-tied quite often around you in one way or another."
