I forgot to pray earlier today and now I feel bad. Is there anyway I can make up for it?
Yes, you can by loving others because it’s the antidote to fear (1 John 4:18). Also, every next second is a chance to pray and repent, and if you can’t right now for some reason, God will understand later when you explain and express yourself in the prayer.
Start with praise/worship. Get your thoughts off yourself and make the first few minutes just about how great He is. Then confess Jesus is LORD over your life/heart, that you’re a child of God, and you identify with Christ (His attributes, His sufferings, His resurrection). Also confess/repent your sins, your guilt, anything that comes to mind that’s been hurting your heart, about how awful you feel for your mistakes including the fact that you forgot to pray this morning. Cast it all on Him. Believe that Jesus took those sins to be with the Father when He was resurrected...that’s why you must identify with His resurrection. Then thank God for His Grace, Mercy, His perfect love, Jesus, and the things you appreciate in life. Then lastly, present your requests to God. Include that you’d like Him to remind you more often to pray in the morning and explain why. Express your wants and needs trusting Him that He will meet them because He created all things and He meets the desires of those that remain faithful in doing His will.
Remember there’s power in the name of Jesus. There’s no limit to mentioning His name throughout your prayer, as long as you end with “In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen/I pray in Jesus’ name, Amen”, you’re more likely to be assured of His guidance. When you say in “Jesus’ name”, you’re really saying “In God’s will”. Jesus is God’s Word and God’s Will, (John 1:1, John 3:16), so as you’re ending your prayer, be grateful for His will for it is always good.
The order of this prayer is called ACTS. Adoration-Confession-Thanksgiving-Supplication. You put your needs and wants last because doing everything else before you tell Him your desires prepares you to be humble. When you’re humble, having faith and trusting in God that He actually heard you comes easily than if you’re not humbled. This order is great for the early mornings and night, but you can talk to God throughout the day as you would to a best friend. Praying for your prayer life and your spiritual growth. ♥️
