prayer for the hurting, the self-loathing
God, You say I am good. Help me to see that.
God, You say I am loved. Help me to know that.
God, You say I am yours. Help me to feel that.
God, You say I belong. Help me to dwell in that.
God, it’s so hard for me right now to see my worth. I am mired in the darkness of the world and of my limited mind, which right now can only see my weaknesses and my failures.
God, I know Your power is made perfect in my weakness, but please! Help me to see more than my weaknesses. Help me to see what is good in me as well.
Shine Your light upon my wounded heart and soul, and heal what is broken; salve the wounds that distort my thoughts and bind up the broken parts that keep me from seeing the ways You help me be whole. Take the scales from my eyes and reveal to me Your glory, that I may always walk with You.
God, you who created everything and said it was good,
God of the universe, God who cares for the lilies of the field and the birds of the air, be with my hurting heart tonight and always.
And teach me to love myself as You love me.
I love You! I love You!
Amen.
