My Goddess Hylia,
Hm, it seems the stonework of your shrine is growing some moss now that the rainy seasons are kicking in. I do wonder if it bothers you, or whether the presence of plants and insects causes you to feel less alone. I know during my time trapped as a spirit aboard Vah Medoh for a hundred years, I grew to appreciate the beauty of creatures such as moss - a small piece of nature that chooses to grow even where no man would dare venture.
I...would like to query something from you in your divine knowledge. An answer once and for all I feel would put to ease something which has been taking up space in my mind for some time now.
Each of the sages in this time; the sage of lightning, the sage of water, the sage of fire - they each have a blood relation to the champions of my time. However Tulin, the sage of the wind, has no blood connection to me.
If prophesy dictates that four heros must be chosen of divine blood, does this indicate that my becoming a champion was....incorrect in line with the tales? Assumably someone of my time held Tulin's divine blood with the power of a sage inside of them. Was I....not supposed to be the Champion? Did I take the role from the true prophesized hero of the Rito?
...It seems terribly foolish to ask, doesn't it? If somebody else did hold some divine blood in their veins, clearly they did not utilise it. Nobody but me learned to harness the winds. Even if I was not born to take upon that battle, I still stepped up when nobody else was capable.
However it just... I wonder if....
We lost. The great prophesy said nothing about us losing, even though we did everything as planned. I cannot help but wonder - did we lose because there was an imposter amongst the real heroes who ruined the prophesy? Who tangled with fate?
Is it somehow my fault that they all died? Should I have....done something differently?
I just. Wish for this guilt to go away.
Dearest Champion,
I do not mind the moss nor the insects. Thank you for asking, nonetheless.
The Sages...While there is indeed a blood connection between the Originals and the New, that connection had nothing to do with the Champions. You, along with the other Champions, were chosen for your skill. The Sages had their destinies planned for them.
You did not take any Rito's place.
You...
You and the others had lost against the Calamity because it had seen the tactics before. It knew how to fight against the Beasts. It planned enemies that would go directly against the Pilots of the Divine Beasts.
It was not your fault you lost.
You have no reason to feel guilty.
Sincerely,
Your Goddess,
Hylia
