New Year Prayer and Fasting 2017 // January 9-13, 2017
This what’s makes me excited in the first month of new year. I started fasting just a year ago and never hesitated to do regularly as God wants me to do. At first, I was cloud with questions in my mind about fasting but as I did it, having my stomach empty for a week, picking up mg crosses, denying myself to God, surrendering every bit of me.. it was all a privilege, an opportunity to be given by Almighty Father to fast. Fasting is about cultivating desire for God and His kingdom. And so, I love fasting. ❤️
Let me share to you my one week of prayer and fasting.
DAY 1: By His Will
Read John 4:33
Everyone of us or just mostly are curious about what God has in store of us? I’m one of them, people. We are daydreaming of where we are 5 years, 10 years, or 25 years from now, we are all wondering how our future looks like. But little did we know, our will is written in the Bible and it tells that our goal is to accomplish the will of the Father. Mark 16:15 “Go into all the world and give news to everyone.” THIS IS THE WILL OF THE LORD FOR US. As I realized, there’s nothing like walking into His will knowing I’m on my way to the gates of Heaven. We must be intentional and be missional as we share the living Gospel.
DAY 2: Know His Word
Read Hebrew 4:12
I read the Bible everyday, I go flip through the pages of new testament BUT.. but I admit, I did not constantly meditate of it in order to know His Word. And there’s a big different of reading and meditate what you are reading of. So, I learned today as God spoke to me.. I get to know His Word day by day because God’s Word has power (Psalm 33:6) and it’s quiet big sword of my life in every storms will come my way.
DAY 3: Know who God is
Read Daniel 11:32, Ephesians 1:1-23
I love the sermon today. I love knowing God everyday. Even though we are spiritually blind and deaf. God reveals Himself in our daily lives. We must know who God because by knowing Him, we get to know His plan for us, His power and the person of Christ.
DAY 4: God’s Presence
Read Exodus 33:13-19
I was inspired by Moses life as I read it. As we feel more of His presence, we need to be like Moses who ALWAYS trust in the ways of God, in the Goodness of God and in the name of God.
DAY 5: By the voice of God
Read 1 Samuel 3
How can we hear the voice of God? How can we know? Knowing God results knowing His voice. How well do we know our God?
Recognizing His voice has not a hearing skill to be learned but an intimate relationship with God that would really determine His voice. Have you notice it sometimes? God uses people to speak His message. He uses people as His instrument so that we could get His message for us, He speaks to us and to everyone. And by the voice of God, it call for obedience (John 10:28).
I like the series of our fasting this new year though I also liked the last year’s fasting. In this prayer and fasting, KNOWING GOD. God is working in us. Let God create an even more deeper desire for Himself and His kingdom.
To God be all the glory 😊
