(For the safety of the people in this story, I will use fake names. I also wish I could share pictures of the people I am talking about. Their faces say so much more than what I could) If you don't know already, last summer I took a week out of my busy schedule of working two jobs and traveled to Mumbai, India to share the Gospel with the people in the slums of Mumbai. Words can't even begin to describe what I saw, what I felt and what actually went on day-to-day there. Each day we went out into the slums to share our testimony with the people that lived in the slums. We could only do this with a translator who knew the area and knew the people. My translator's name was George. When we had some time to ourselves he would tell me of an American friend (Missionary David) whom he loved and wished that we could meet. Not even a year later and I am already receiving emails from David. Reports of the field. And I just wanted to share with you some things that are going on. David and George have started a new church near where George lives. The church that I went to in India, Greater Grace, is a long way from George's house and he and his family, with little money, had to travel by train every sunday to go to church. But please pray for the new church in Nallasopara (still in Mumbai). After just two months of David being in Nepal, 50 new faces were added to the church in Nallasopara. George (who's feet are very weak and frail) and the pastor of the church had been going out 6 days a week in the slums and sharing the Gospel with people. Amen! While David was in Nepal he helped set up a new orphanage in the church that he was at. A member of Greater Grace in Mumbai, who now lives in the Nepali city heard of some homeless children that were living in the forest just south of the new orphanage. Here is an exert from David's email: "Will (church member) quit his job by faith, and with no promise of support, rented a home for them, caring for them each day. Will is an excellent teacher, so they will get a quality education. The Orphanage is right behind Pastor Jack’s home east of the city, so Pastor Jack’s wife Shelly, cares for the 12 children each day also. So far, some of my American friends have given some support for rent, and to buy necessities, but it is still not enough. We are praying for more regular support and good communication between sponsors and the work there. These 12 children all came with many diseases and worms in their bodies. They had been eating trash and dead carcasses of whatever they could find in the forests. 3 of the children even had to cannibalize a dead body they found to survive. These children are between 5 and 12 years old. Some of them are on regular medicine to rid the worms, and Will is paying for the medicine out of his own decreasing life savings. I gave him 500 dollars of my own support for some necessities and to set up an official school for them. They all came with rough sad faces, but most now have a sweet disposition. They are obedient now that they are loved. They all want to be pastors and missionaries now that they know Jesus. God willing I plan to set up a Facebook profile for the kids, so all my friends can see their faces and get their updates." So please pray for these 12 children. While in Nepal, David also taught 30 tribal pastors - teaching them how to lead. Please pray for these 30 men as they go back to their tribes so they can share the Gospel with the people that have never heard of Jesus. The need for Christ is still GREAT in Mumbai, India and the surrounding areas. As you can see, there are STILL tribes in Nepal that have never heard of Jesus or even a coming Savior. Please keep these tribes in your prayers. It is still great to see God using people like George and David to reach these lost people. I can not wait for that glorious day that I get to meet them face-to-face. "What a glorious day that will be."
