Hybrid theory but the first album I ever listened to front the back, played it during a streetball game soon after it came out... They were huge for me back when
Seriously, I was obsessed with that one. I got into them on the later side, so I actually heard Meteora first. It seriously opened up a whole new universe of music for me. Like before that I had been just ehhh on every CD I got myself* but Meteora was something else. I got Hybrid Theory a few months later and was like DAMN. Reanimation was also huge. Like so many seriously underground (and critically acclaimed!) rap acts were on that. There was music I liked before LP, but seriously, the started a new fucking era for me.

And the Eagles sound like a reach, but then you remember that Their Greatest Hits (1971-1975) is the second highest selling record of all time.

True... although Grateful Dead is not who I'd expect out of CA nonetheless
I def think the Dead are a strong contender since they are like a full scale phenomenon. But @gossamer-doggies and I were talking about this, and like, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are solidly in the running right? They’ve somehow scored radio hits consistently for near 30 years, and are still headlining festivals. They sell their shirts in Target. That’s the top! If they sell your shirts at Target you never have to worry another day of your life (unless you’re NASA).

That makes sense. So I’m assuming you are only due royalties a) during your tenure or b) from work made during your tenure. Leaning on the latter.
