Hm, noted. Doctor Al-Hashimi, maybe not a fan of darker humour. Richie's been feeling that out across the ED for a bit, with varying degrees of success. This? Perhaps not one of the better attempts.

With a click of his tongue, he casts a hand through the air dismissively. "Another life." Nothing to worry about, his tone suggests. Bad joke. "Forget I said anything."

He pulls in a breath and turns to face her, eyebrows raising, visibly attempting to change gears, "Anything I can do for you, boss?" He thinks better of the non-violent, I promise that he almost tacks onto the end.

the forth of july was—by far—her least favourite american holiday. the fireworks were a huge trigger for her ptsd. so, she was extremely glad to have been called in, even though it was to work a potential child abuse case — she was even more glad that it had turned out to be a false alarm.

the chaos of the emergency department helped to mask some the ceaseless explosions from the fireworks. so, lucia decided to hang around instead of slipping back upstairs to her office; where she usually took care of her paperwork.

lucia took a deep, shaky breath as she dropped down her files down at the nurses' station. it wasn't the first time she'd hung around with dana and the team, so she knew everyone on their shift. however, there did seem to be a new face... headed right for her. ❛❛ doctor al-hashimi, right? ❜❜ lucia asked, offering a hesitant smile.

𝐛𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧  𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐩𝐬  𝐭𝐨𝐨  𝐜𝐥𝐨𝐬𝐞.  too  close  for  professional  distance,  too  close  for  pretending  this  is  just  another  argument  about  protocol  or  tone  or  who  overstepped  first.  the  words  fall  apart  between  them  and  then  baran’s  hand  is  suddenly  there  —  hooked  in  robby’s  belt,  yanking  him  forward  with  a  force  that  knocks  the  air  from  his  lungs.

robby  lets  out  a  short,  disbelieving  laugh  as  he’s  pulled  in,  the  kiss  colliding  with  him  mid-thought,  all  pent-up  frustration  and  heat.  for  a  second,  the  world  narrows  to  that  grip,  that  mouth,  the  way  every  fight  they’ve  ever  had  seems  to  funnel  into  this  one  moment.  when  robby  finally  breaks  it,  breath  uneven,  eyes  bright  with  something  like  victory,  he  doesn’t  bother  hiding  the  grin.  ❝  i  knew  you  liked  me.  ❞
