"Maddie, I think Buck is acting weird," Chimney says a few days after the cruise ship rescue. "Weirder than usual, I mean."
"Oh really?" She hums thoughtfully and snuggles closer to him, her leg tangling with his to press her cold toes to his shin.
"Yeah. He's been staring into space a lot more than usual, checking his phone repeatedly and putting it away and then, within seconds, take it out again. And he's been glaring at Eddie a lot too. It's so ridiculous seeing him glare, it's like seeing an angry puppy."
"Glaring? That is odd. But Buck hasn't said anything to me about being annoyed at Eddie. He's been talking a lot about Tommy though. Maybe he's angry at Tommy?" Maddie's fingers trail over her soon-to-be husband's ribs. Only half of her attention is on Chimney's words. The other half is on initiating more pleasurable activities.
Chimney however is still oblivious. "I don't think so? Buck's asked me a little about Tommy and what he likes."
"Then maybe it really is Eddie who pissed him off." Frankly, Maddie thinks it is time Chimney stopped talking about other men. She doesn't want to think about other men, especially not her baby brother, not when her very sexy fiancé doesn't have to wake up early tomorrow and she doesn't have a shift, and they've had such a nice evening and Jee actually is tired out so she won't wake in the middle of the night.
"The weird thing is, Eddie's not done anything outta the ordinary. Oh, maybe it's because he's hanging out a lot with Tommy. Hey, didja know Tommy flew Eddie to Vegas for a fight on a chopper? I wanna go on a chopper to Vegas too, that'd be so cool. Maybe I can ask him to fly us out on a date."
"Sounds awesome," Maddie murmurs into his shoulder, completely done with conversation, and slides her hand down between his legs.
She gets his full attention.
