instances of emotionally-driven accidental magic
when the redheaded witch glances across the room and sees a baron sneering in the face of her only child, her hand clenches around her wine glass and shatters it. a deep breath and a moment of silence around the ballroom later, the glass reshapes from the remains and the wine unstains her hand and dress. she turns to her date with a sharp smile and glinting eyes, asking him to excuse her for one moment.
when the blonde witch glances into an alley and has to do a double-take because there’s someone she knows being help up against a building, she turns and takes a step in. a nearby pipe bursts and sprays the lackeys with water and they scatter, leaving the witch alone with her friend and his attacker. she fixes emerald-green eyes onto him and tilts her head.
when the brunet wizard sees his wonderfully amazing aunt being attacked from behind, he doesn’t think. a pale hand shoots out and the attacker’s windpipe crushes instantly, and he falls over. his aunt whirls around with her wand out and sends a grateful smile to her nephew that warms him to the core.
when the raven wizard sees his sister falling to her doom, he magics a cliff made of vines to catch her. they slowly inch her closer to him and he grabs her hand tightly, pulling her flush to him. they breathe deeply for a moment as they gather their bearings.
when the brunet wixen sees one of the only family members they have left at the mercy of his deranged cousin, they don’t think. they just act. the woman is blasted back with a simple glance and a wave of an acacia wand brings their uncle towards them. their twin brother skirts by them briefly to touch his godfather, to be thankful he’s alive, before running back into the fray. the old man ruffles the wixen’s hair gently before brandishing his own wand and looking for his cousin again, and the wixen turns to stare into a porcelain mask.
