This is mostly Marks-A-Lot permanent marker. The best ‘ink’ I’ve found to use with gelly roll white. Inktober will use that a lot. Since my prompts are all scifi paperback covers, I’ve decided all my sketches will be Richard Powers era inspired abstractions. I will post an extra version where I add a Title across the top of the sketch to complete the faux paperback idea. I’ve added a quick notion of the sort of visual I have in mind. I think that painting is powers. Mine will be BW with the potential to paint into later.
What the Legal Rights to Disposition is For - Don't miss this!
There are a lot of legalities involved with death. When someone passes there are rules and regulations for disposition of the body. A last will and testament can be used by a person to spell out exactly what they want to have happen to their body after death. But not everyone has one of those. However, a person may have signed a Legal Rights to Disposition form. There’s a lot of confusion around exactly what this form is and when it applies. And if you’re the spouse or the legal next of kin you may be surprised to find you might not be in control of the disposition decisions if this form exists. Legal Rights to Disposition Forms Explained The general gist of a Legal Rights to Disposition form is it names the person (agent) who will oversee the disposition of your body. In states like Texas, written documentation appointing a person with the rights to disposition overrides even next of kin status. Legally, whoever is named on the Rights to Disposition documents is in charge of the body disposition. That said, you can also specify the type of disposition you want within the document. Then the appointee is simply carrying out your directives. People use Legal Rights to Disposition forms so that it’s crystal clear who should be handling the body disposition. It could be that you have numerous close loved ones that might have differing views. Or you’ve discussed your wishes with a loved one that you know will respect them to a tee. Regardless of the reasoning, when a Legal Rights to Disposition exists whatever it contains takes precedence. That’s why one of the first questions the funeral director will ask is if there’s a Legal Rights to Disposition form or appointment of agent documentation. Because if so, the agent needs to be the one signing off on the disposition. That’s why there’s confusion surrounding Legal Rights to Disposition forms. A spouse or the next of kin mistakenly thinks this is what a funeral home is referring to when the director inquires about the form. To be fair, estimates are that around 60% of U.S. adults don’t have a will or any sort of estate planning documents. So the majority of the time the spouse or next of kin steps into the role of decision maker. The funeral home needs to know who is legally able to decide the type of body disposition that’s used. In many cases if there isn't a Legal Rights to Disposition form it is the spouse (not common law) or next of kin who’s named. So now you know, Legal Rights to Disposition forms aren’t the same as next of kin status that gives a person legal rights to disposition. The naming conventions can be confusing, but the thing to remember is that any written and signed documentation that signifies who should handle the body disposition overrides everything else. At Green Cremation Texas we can walk you through all of the forms that are required. You can give us a call, text or email day or night any day of the week if you have questions. Planning Ahead: Why Considering Funeral Pre-Planning is Essential
Experiencing the loss of a loved one is an inevitable part of life's journey. Amidst the emotional turmoil, understanding the intricacies of funeral services can feel overwhelming. Whether you're facing the loss of a family member or contemplating pre-planning for yourself, grasping the fundamentals of funeral services is essential. This comprehensive beginner's guide for funeral pre-planning aims to provide clarity and support during this challenging time. From comprehending the various types of services to addressing practical considerations, let's embark on this journey together.
What are the different types of funeral services available?
Funeral services encompass a range of options tailored to diverse preferences and cultural traditions. Here are some common types:
Traditional Funeral Service: This typically involves a viewing or visitation, a formal funeral ceremony, and burial or cremation following established customs, often rooted in religious or cultural traditions.
Memorial Service: Unlike a traditional funeral, a memorial service centers on celebrating the life and memory of the individual, usually without the presence of the deceased's body. These services can be personalized and held at various locations.
Graveside Service: Held at the burial site, a graveside service is often a simpler ceremony compared to a traditional funeral. Family and friends gather to pay their respects before the interment.
Direct Cremation: In a direct cremation, the body is cremated shortly after death without a formal viewing or ceremony. Families may choose to hold a separate memorial service at a later date.
What factors should I consider when planning a funeral service?
Planning a funeral involves numerous considerations, including:
Budget: Funeral expenses can vary widely depending on the chosen type of service and additional arrangements. Establishing a budget and communicating your preferences to the funeral director is crucial.
Personalization: Many families opt for personalized funeral services that reflect the unique life and personality of the deceased. Consider incorporating meaningful rituals, music, readings, or tributes into the ceremony.
Cultural and Religious Customs: If applicable, honor cultural or religious customs during the funeral service, such as specific rituals, prayers, or burial practices.
Logistics: Selecting a suitable venue, arranging transportation, and accommodating out-of-town guests are vital logistical considerations in planning a funeral service.
How can I support grieving family members and friends during a funeral service?
Supporting grieving loved ones is essential. Here are some ways to offer comfort and assistance:
Listen: Provide a compassionate ear for family members and friends to express their emotions and share memories without judgment.
Offer Practical Support: Assist with funeral arrangements, run errands, or provide meals to alleviate some of the burdens faced by grieving individuals.
Respect Their Wishes: Be mindful of the grieving person's preferences and boundaries, respecting their need for space or solitude while being available for support when needed.
Follow Up: Grief extends beyond the funeral service. Continue to check in on your loved ones in the days, weeks, and months following the loss, offering ongoing support and compassion.
Navigating the complexities of funeral services can be challenging, especially during times of grief. However, with understanding, support, and compassion, you can honor your loved one's memory in a meaningful and dignified manner. By familiarizing yourself with different types of funeral services, addressing practical considerations, and supporting grieving family members and friends, you can navigate this journey with grace and resilience. Remember, you're not alone, and there are resources and professionals available to guide you every step of the way.
