Looking Ahead (MM #2978) Mid May is the time when many things end for the year. School is winding down and the prime time TV season is also coming to a close. But right now is also a time for looking ahead...
@ethereal-myth liked for a starter
Allen honestly had no idea how he’d managed to get himself invited to a CyberLife black-tie event. He’d only been working for the company for about a month now and was little more than a glorified errand boy. Not to mention a far cry from most of the people here, both in pay grade and class.
Cyberlife was celebrating its millionth android sold and of course, it was a big deal. Though not enough so for them to invite all of their employees, let alone those like Allen. He figured it had to be a mistake of some sort when he received the invitation but naturally there was no explanation enclosed. In the end, he decided not to look a gift horse in the mouth.
At the very least, he could indulge in some free booze and leave before anyone started asking about his position in the company.
Allen was doing just that, awkwardly sipping at his glass of champagne as some guy made a speech that may as well have been a love letter to Elijah Kamski.
Honestly, this whole thing was beginning to feel like an excuse for people to gather around and kiss the founder’s ass. Sighing and noticing that his glass was almost empty, he glanced around, trying to find one of the servers.
When he couldn’t, he reluctantly moved from his spot against the wall and accidentally ran right into someone else, the remnants of his drink spilling itself onto the poor stranger.
”Oh, shit, I’m so sorry. I’ll...see if I can find some napkins.”
He said, in a nervous tone, well aware that whoever this was probably had more than enough leverage to get him fired.
