Hi all, we have a lot of people who follow us who didn't previously know anything about tap dancing... So we'd like to start spotlighting wonderful people in the tap world so our audience can be introduced to who they are. Up first is Mary Six Rupert, co-creator of @legacy36llc ! Here is part 1 of a recent interview we did with her! Part 2 will be posted later today. 1. Can you tell us a little about yourself and your tap dance projects or classes? My tap performing career included performing in tap musicals such as 42nd St., Singin' in the Rain, My One and Only and I was a Radio City Rockette for 13 years. Currently I am a professor of tap at Wagner College where I teach 4 levels of tap. I also teach open tap classes at an Upper West Side dance studio called Bridge for Dance. I have two large projects : This is year number 6 of producing a show that celebrates precision tap dance featuring the Legacy Dancers, a line of former Rockettes and I have created a system for those mobility challenged to tap dance with their hands called Tap Dancing Hands Down®. 2. At what age did you start tap dancing and what got you into it? I started taking private tap lessons at 2 because the teacher did not have any other students that young. I got started because my older sister who was 5 was in a tap class and I wanted to join. ........... #Repost @legacy36llc (@get_repost) ・・・ Here is your weekly peek from the "Legacy36 Celebrates the Stars" production from June!
