#precursor writing

Would it be all right if I converted that "handwritten" Precursor script you did into a font? I feel like it could be pretty badass in fanart and stuff.

I assume you mean this post, and yes, go for it! We've actually had a few people express an interest in a font for that script (and I keep forgetting to look into it) so I'm sure it would be much appreciated. :>

Experimentations with a 'handwritten' Precursor script; these were done with a parallel pen (2.4mm nib). I like this a lot, much cleaner than the results I got with a brush-pen.

...I should also write out and scan a lefty version because OH MAN replicating this is absolute hell when writing left-handed (due to the angle you have to hold the pen at). I did a few tests and it's so awkward and actually almost painful, and no matter how hard I try it doesn't come out as nice.

So I got a parallel pen and of course one of the first things I decided to test it on was the Precursor alphabet (as we had speculated a bit on whether they might have used something similar).

Verdict: omfg in order to replicate the tapers of this script with a parallel pen you would have to be constantly rotating it, which is hard as BALLS [sob] I need to practice with it a lot more in order to get there. So in the meantime all I can say is maybe.

I gotta say, some of the letters look really beautiful like this! A, B, D, F, W, and Z all came out pretty nice (though not necessarily super accurate). I’m kinda digging the little diamonds everywhere.

mrsandking made a post about being a lefty; it was ooc but now I can't get lefty!Damas out of my head. What can I say, I really like all these headcanons about Damas being this badass who has trouble with really simple things like driving and writing.

There was some speculation a while back that the Precursor alphabet might be handwritten with parallel pens (since the blocky shape of the letters would require a writing implement capable of variable lineweights) and getting the angles correct with a parallel pen would be hell for a lefty (I'd like to properly play around with this but I forgot where I put my pen nibs).
